In 2024, the Sports and Cultural Group of the Banco de Portugal (GDBP) celebrates its 75th anniversary.
To mark this joyous year, we present a piano recital by the pianist Diogo Simões, exactly 175 years after the passing of Frédéric Chopin (1849-2024), a major figure of Romantic piano music. Diogo Simões will play one of the most brilliant and virtuous works of this beloved composer: Andante Spianato et Grande Polonaise Brillante, amplified by other works of the only two composers Chopin loved without reservations: Mozart and Bach. And because music is so diverse, and was particularly so in the 20th century, when the GDBP was established, the programme will close with Stravinsky. Be amazed by a journey through these four worlds, spanning two centuries, in celebration of the GDBP’s 75 years of great performances!
