"The Euro and economic growth" – Pedro Braz Teixeira
Portugal's participation in the euro coincided with a period of very weak economic growth and even divergence with the European Union, one of the most anemic areas in the world. However, this effect does not arise directly from our participation in the euro, but from the particularly inept way in which we prepared for what was always going to be a demanding challenge.
Living in the euro does not have to mean economic stagnation but, in order to grow, we have to be willing to change a lot of things. Any attempt to return to the past will always be a path without a future and without growth.
