The fragments recovered at the headquarters of Banco de Portugal in the excavations of 2010-2011, although quite obliterated, are vital for archaeological research and the discovery of the 2000 years of history of this place. Amidst more than 100 000 fragments, 1140 belonged to earthenware pieces.
The remains prove more than five hundred years of utilisation of national and international earthenware, a practice that began even before the construction of the Ribeira Royal Palace.
