5th Anniversary
It was on April 20, 2016 that the Money Museum of the Bank of Portugal opened to the public.
Conceived as a project of opening up to society and contributing to the culture in the city of Lisbon, the success and recognition of the Museum over these five years has surpassed all expectations:
We received over 300,000 visitors
We organized 19 temporary exhibitions on art, architecture, archeology and history
We promoted 4,500 cultural and educational activities for groups
We welcomed 50,000 students from all grade levels
We received several distinctions, with emphasis on the “Best Museum of the Year”, in 2017, by the Portuguese Association of Museology.
Even with the COVID-19 pandemic (2020-2021), the Museum has not slowed down and, in addition to online educational activities, has reinforced its focus on videos and its presence on Youtube and Instagram.
